• Do I need to have an inspection performed?

Answer

Please consult our on-line Guidelines for Exporters for the country to which you are exporting.

These can be found under Downloads.

• If I need an inspection, how do I go about arranging one?

Answer (same answer as first)

Please consult our on-line Guidelines for Exporters for the country to which you are exporting.

These can be found under Downloads.

• If I need an inspection, how long will one take?

Answer

Once a file has been opened with our office in the country of import, it will automatically appear on our computer screens in the country where the inspection is being arranged. ITS will send a Request For Information (RFI) letter to the exporter. Once this information is returned to our office, ITS requests that a minimum of 3 full working days be allowed for an inspection to be arranged and carried out.

• When inspecting, what will the inspector be looking for?

Answer

Our objectives during inspection vary according to the destination of the goods so the inspector will usually seek to verify the characteristics of the goods which bear on Value, Tariff Code, Quantity and Quality.

• Were there any problems with the inspection?

Answer

As an Exporter, the result of the inspection will be made available at the time of the inspection.

• After the inspection, can I ship my goods?

Answer

Yes, but until a Clean Report of Findings (CRF) is issued, you do so at the risk of having the certificate withheld because of issues in relation to Valuation or Tariff Coding etc.

• Do you accept faxed/e-mailed copies of final documents

Answer

Yes, but for Letters of Credit purposes ITS must certify an Original Invoice.

• How long does it take to get the certificate to my buyer?

Answer

ITS expects to issue all certificates from the relevant office in the country of Import on the day the file was certified.

• How do I know that the certificate has been sent to my buyer?

Answer

The Importer should contact the local ITS Liaison Office for this information .

• How do I know that everything has been done?

Answer

The Exporter should have the CRF, the Importer should have the clearance certificate.
