Over the past couple of months, carriers on the Asia to Europe trade have experienced an increase of heavy cargo moving in 20' containers. This demand for heavy commodities from all parts of Asia has resulted in an increased average weight and severe difficulties in supplying sufficient equipment.
Consequently, we are unable to utilise our vessels up to full capacity, and furthermore we are facing increased costs for positioning adequate equipment to cater for present needs. We will therefore with effect from 1 June 2007, take the following measures on all 20' dry cargo moving from the Far East to North Europe and the Mediterranean: ·Reduce acceptance of 20' dry cargo weighing between 17-24 tons by 25% compared to current weekly loadings ·Reduce acceptance of 20' dry cargo weighing more than 24 tons by 50% compared to current weekly loadings In addition, with effect from 1 July 2007, we will take the following measures on all 20' dry cargo moving from the Far East to North Europe and the Mediterranean: ·Apply a rate increase of usd 300 per 20’ dry cargo weighing less than 17 tons ·Apply a rate increase of usd 650 per 20' dry cargo weighing between 17-24 tons ·Cease acceptance of 20' dry cargo weighing more than 24 tons |
